Here we are today with the Adobe Stock contributor review. So, what is Adobe Stock? It is a stock photography site offered by Adobe, which uses its fully integrated Creative Cloud platform to attract buyers.

What makes it different from other agencies is that the demand for Adobe stock photos is high, as buyers can easily use them for design purposes without a web browser. It is seemingly very beneficial for sellers as their images demand increases and they can get better rates.

What is Adobe Stock?

Adobe Stock has become a renowned name in the stock photography industry, so there cannot be a better place for you to start. It is a legit way of making some money. Not only is it beneficial for designers, but it provides seamless earnings for sellers as well.

This way, both the buyer and seller can work with ease. If you want to learn how it works and begins earning through it, read along.

The only thing needed to qualify for Adobe Stock Images is having some good photos. So if you have high-quality images that are indeed your own, then get them licensed and start earning directly from them.

Remember, the earning varies because buyers have different subscription plans and various bundles to select from. So the commission you receive will depend upon the purchaser and the terms of use.

Your photo sells at between $0.26 and $999; thus, you will earn about 30% on it. It might look less competitive than other agencies, as they offer a higher rate, but it pays more in reality. It is because it sells your photo at a higher price, which gives you a more significant commission, even at a lower rate.

So Adobe is best for those photographers who wish to make the most by fulfilling the large customer base’s needs on Adobe Creative Cloud! Here’s a screenshot of my portfolio:

My Adobe Stock Portfolio

The next best thing about Adobe Stock is that it is reliable as it is run by the vast, professional giant Adobe, a renowned software company. The fame of this stock photo service is far and wide, and it attracts users from all around the globe.

Royalty-free stock

It makes it easy for sellers to find buyers. Secondly, as its library of royalty-free images is integrated into Adobe’s Creative Cloud platform, many stock photo users come here to purchase pictures rather than other platforms. It makes it one of the market leaders; thus, sellers can trust Adobe to find buyers.

Additionally, its acquisition of stock agency Fotolia increased its popularity, as Fotolia’s public database became Adobe Images’ property. This purchase grew its library, which now homes more than 100 million images, thus expanding its reach.

It is not all that makes it one of the best choices of stock photo agencies. As designers trust Adobe, and it is an excellent option for them, sellers can use this as an opportunity to make the most of it by exploiting the designer’s needs.

As it reflects quality, any image you upload will be held in high regard, and you will earn well from it. So Adobe stock is the best place for those who wish to have a large customer base, want their photographs to sell quickly, and want better returns.

A Brief History

Adobe Stock was launched in mid-2015 when Adobe decides to expand from graphic designing into stock photography by acquiring the reputable stock photo agency Fotolia.

Adobe stock was initially launched as a significant update for the Creative Cloud platform. It was not started as a part of any existing app, but it was held as a stand-alone service that provided premium stock photography.

As it is fully integrated into Creative Cloud, it was very well received. As it was backed by Adobe and had such a powerful and dynamic database of Fotolia to start with, it established itself pretty quickly as a significant player in the stock image industry. In a short time, its library expanded as both users and sellers begin to trust it due to its renowned name and high-quality standards.

The creators have always emphasized a tech-driven yet user-friendly service, which has led to numerous updates. It has only been four years since its launch, and Adobe Stock has upgraded multiple times.

These updates include adding more media types like footage and 3D models, applying end technology such as machine learning and image recognition. All of these changes have been applauded by the public and helped it to prosper.

Adobe Stock intelligent system

Adobe service spares no effort in bringing added value for its suppliers. The feature they have put a lot of work in is the highly tech-driven service with constant updates. They have an intelligent system to verify both its contributors and their files to maintain its quality standards.

Verifying the identities ensures that a picture of a valid government-generated ID is submitted, which matches with the details entered in the account. The age limit has been restricted so that those under 18 cannot participate as it needs legal authority.

The tax and payment information is verified so that only reliable sellers are permitted access. The same things are done with customers and become legit, and the chances of scams and fraud are eliminated.

To ensure that the files being uploaded are legit, they are scrutinized. They are submitted for review and are only approved if they meet their criteria.

The criteria for evaluating files are as follows:

  • Technical qualities
  • Keyword accuracy
  • Legal standards
  • Aesthetic properties
  • Title
  • Commercial value
  • Duplicity
  • Uniqueness
  • Matched to other files submitted by the seller

It will be rejected if the file is too similar to content already online in Adobe stock images. The approval system is quite thorough, yet it is speedy. Files are approved in the order they were received, and the wait time is less than a week.

Remember, even the most skilled photographers can have their files rejected by the system if it doesn’t meet the criteria. Adobe stock is very strict when it comes to meeting requirements. It is not a drawback. Instead, it is a good practice, and it indicates the high standard it follows.

Some tips before uploading photos as an Adobe Stock Contributor

To begin selling content on this photography stock site, you have to be at least 18 years old so that you can legally carry the sole ownership of all the images and videos you upload for selling. Secondly, a signed model released should be attached before submission if you upload content with recognizable persons or private property included.

Moreover, whatever you upload: be it a photograph, vector, video, or illustration, it should meet the standards set by Adobe Stock. As per the rules, your file should be of high quality and have creative content.

Next, you have to ensure in which collections you are uploading your data at Adobe Stock. The core includes stock photographs, vectors, illustrations, and videos open for all.

So if you want your file to be approved and sold quickly, ensure that it focuses on unique subjects like cultural diversity, exotic fashion, bright and bold portraits, beautiful lifestyle, striking architecture, etc. This is to give you an idea.

There are virtually no limitations, so capture anything you want, but make sure that it has a high resolution and certain appeal. Adobe does publish a visual trend report annually to help sellers better understand what customers are looking for. Have a look at it, and it will guide you on where to start and what to upload.

While the curated is accepted through invitation only and comprises editorial photographs, templates, premium photographs, 3D projects, etc. It is reviewed for approval before it is made public once you upload a file. Like all other stock agencies, review times vary as they depend on the reviewer’s content, but typically files are reviewed within a week.

For even more tips and a masterfully done tutorial, I am inviting you to watch this YouTube video by James Wheeler – Co-founder at  Photerloo Photography website:

The commission you earn as a contributor.

You get a commission of 33% for each sale if it is an image and 35% for a video. Once the earnings in your account reach $50 or €50, you can request a payout. You can either use PayPal or Skrill to transfer the earnings.

The commission is earned after you upload your stock media on the Adobe Stock website to allow customers to license and purchase the file. Here’s an example – on my account:

Adobe Stock Earnings

The commission is earned as soon as a full-resolution, and an un-watermarked file replaces the preview. The rate might sound uncompetitive, but Adobe ensures that the nominal amount you receive is more prominent than its competitors.

Adobe Stock Creative Trends in 2020

“Each year, the Adobe Stock team pores over data and signals from Adobe users, influencers, search, research reports, global news, emerging fine art, and fashion runways so we can report insights of where we see the year ahead unfolding creatively. This year, we’re going further. For 2020, we’re excited to reveal not just four Visual Trends, but accompanying Motion Trends and Design Trends too.”  — by Brenda Milis on the Adobe Blog.
