The best time to visit David Austin Rose Gardens is in early summer, at the beginning of June. It is so beautiful and inspiring, that it is almost impossible to leave the place without buying some plants.
They care for each plant by hand, the same as it was at the beginning, about sixty years ago. It is also educational, as you can talk with the staff and get professional advice.
There are 2 acres of rose gardens. They are home to over seven hundred varieties of roses. This includes the National Collection of English Roses which blooms in fragrant flushes from early June until the winter’s first frost.

We had a very pleasant walk through the gardens, and this is how it looks:

These are climbers and shrubs, but they also have rose trees accompanied by plants that blend extremely well. To put the roses in evidence, they use companion plants for gorgeous backgrounds:

They also have roses exposed in huge pots. They look amazing and I couldn’t resist taking some photos.
Here they are:
David Austin Plant Center
After this wonderful walk, we head to the plant center. What you saw is the gardens, is here for sale. I am a big fan when it comes to David Austin Roses. In my small garden in Liverpool, I have 14 roses, of which 11 of them are David Austin Roses.
I have to thank for this my wife because I never heard before about this breed. And, indeed, with good care, they grow up beautifully and the booming is spectacular.
Here you’ll have detailed information about what you’re about to buy. Like, for example, Gertrude Jekyll – “Best for Fragrance”:
To more details, like Princess Anne – “Best for Health and Best for Flowering:”
There are plenty of breeds for you to buy, and here are some more pictures:
They also sell companion flowers for different rose colors or types. Like companions for yellow roses, or companions for white and cream roses.
Also companions for shrubs, or climbers:
For this visit, I used my best full-frame camera, Sony A7RII. If you want to know more about it, please check the review.
The images in this post are resized to help load fast, especially on mobile. But if you want to see these pictures in good quality, here’s a YouTube video I created with all the pics from this post. I set ten seconds between image views, and I added relaxing piano music in the background to make this experience most pleasant.
