Syma’s incredible helicopters are popular among all age groups. A combination of durability, fun, and reasonable cost in their products is the sole reason behind their popularity. RC (Radio-controlled) helicopters are one of the specialties of Syma.

You can get an idea about their popularity from that the best-selling device of Syma named as Syma RC Helicopter.

It is also named as Syma S107G. It is equipped with a 4 in 1 infrared receiver, i.e., Gyro, ESC, mixer, receiver. It is palm-sized, but its durability is something to talk about, all thanks to the much detailed canopy and aluminum frame.

Syma S107G Review

Colorful flashing lights, Gyro technology, durability, three channels infrared, built-in double protection, and many more exciting features about this device are there to talk about.

Built and design

For the price of the helicopter, the building of the apparatus is pretty incredible. The device’s blades and body are made up of plastic, but the inner construction is of metal. Most of the metal structure is an aluminum frame that is lightweight but strong. The overall dimension is 7.7 x 7.6 x 3.1 inches. Length is 8.7 in (220.98mm), Height is 1.5 in (38.1mm), Width/Diameter is 3.9 in (99.06mm).

The weight of S107 is deficient, i.e., around 300 grams. It has its pros and cons. Being this lightweight, it can fly higher than the competitor RC helicopters of the same category, but on the other side, less weight makes it more difficult to fly outdoors. A little blow of breeze can take away the copter with it.

Syma S107G product overview

The built consists mainly of plastic. It doesn’t mean that it is more vulnerable than metallic structures. Not only is this plastic of high quality, but it also makes the copter safe to fly when there are kids around. Little bumps with walls and other objects don’t damage it, but if you manage to crack a blade or lose a tail rotor, you can easily find the replacements at a little cost.

Flying performance

S107G is an insanely easy and fun to fly copter. You can fly it continuously, around 6 to 8 minutes, when it is fully charged. The infrared controls are also easy and intuitive, and once you learn to control them, you can have a very steady and fun flight. The maximum flying distance for the copter is about 8 meters.

Indoors, you can enjoy all the features and have fun, but avoid flying it outdoors. It is not built for that. Somehow, if you try to operate it outdoors, you’ll end up with nothing else but disappointment.

Controller

As the name shows the involvement of radiofrequency, the controller of the device is a radio controller. It is effortless to understand and has three primary parts:

  • Left control stick
  • Right control stick
  • Central knob

All three parts have different functions. The left control stick accelerates the propeller of the copter. It is built to fly the device up and down. Via the right control stick, you can lean copter forward and backward and left and right.

Using the central knob, you can control the turning tendencies. It can be twisted to the left or right to cancel any subtle but constant turning moments. These controls are pretty similar and user friendly. If you are a beginner, you should consider buying it.

Transmission and receiving

There is a 2.4 GHz transmission and receiving system in it. The onboard receiver in the device and transmitter, a handheld controller, operates on a 2.4 GHz band frequency. It enables the transmitter to have full and precise control over the helicopter and effectively adds up in Syma’s S107 G’s multi-directional maneuvering capabilities.

Syma S107G’s receiver is a 4-in-1 infra-red. The four infrared capabilities of the receiver are Gyro, ESC, Mixer, and Receiver.

Gyro stabilization technology

The gyroscope system in the helicopter enables a flyer to have a smooth flight. This system can effectively adjust the aircraft’s various spins phenomena during the flight. It makes the flights easier to operate and stable. Various spin phenomena cause the apparatus to spin towards the left of the right during the flight, even when there are no transmitter directions.

Colorful flashing lights

On the body, there are some beautiful flashing LED color lights. Flashing lights can play a massive role in excellent flying performance at night, even when there is no other source of light.

As this is built for indoors, you can also fly it in rooms when lights are out without worrying about losing track of the device. These lights are pretty vibrant and look pretty too.

Double protection

There is built-in Double protection technology to ensure maximum safety of the helicopter and protect from any damage.

Because of this technology, if it gets choke between or on any surface, it automatically turns off. Usually, when a usual copter is choked, it keeps running until the battery dies if there are no signals from the controller to lean back. Double protection technology also eliminates this technology and saves power too.

Battery

The battery used in the helicopter is the typical 3.7 volts 150 mAH Lithium polymer battery. You will need around 50 to 60 minutes to charge this battery fully. At full charging, the copter is capable of flying for 6 to 8 minutes.

The battery can be charged via USB. The USB charging cable is included in the package. It is medium quality cable, and you can easily find a replacement if you want to replace it. It could be better if there were a wall charger included in the package.

If your device power runs out and you don’t have the USB, you can not fly it.

For the price of the copter, battery life is not very impressive. Also, around 50 to 60 minutes are required to charge it entirely, but it can give the flight time of only 6 to 8 minutes. Charging time to flying time ratio is such a turn-off. In the new generations of the copter, Syma should address this issue.

Built for the indoors

The specialized lightweight construction of the micro Lightning X-Squadron chopper is designed to withstand indoor impacts and crashes. Flying it outdoors can damage it beyond repair.

It is controlled via infrared frequency, which also makes it a candidate for indoor flying only. The light distorts infrared light signals. In case you fly it in a bright sunlight controller, you can lose responsiveness, and it won’t control the helicopter.

Losing control means more crashes, and it can damage the helicopter. Besides the bright sunlight, the breeze’s slightest blow can take it away with it because it is very lightweight. You can fly it indoors and enjoy it more than outdoors.

Gyro stabilization design, easy controls, and bright lights on each motor’s side can make indoor flight more enjoyable, even in slightly dark corners.

Ready to fly

Upon buying, you do not have to go through the mess of assembling the device. To start the helicopter, add the 4 AA batteries in the radio controller, attach the aircraft to the controller directly to charge it, or using a USB cable to fuel the batteries.

The battery is full in less than one hour, and the helicopter is ready to fly without any need for assembly.

Durability

It is very durable like if you fly it and it lightly strikes to bumps, et cetera, at the end of the flight, it is as good as the brand new copter.

Suitable for

From the manufacturer, it is recommended for people who are 14+.
