Let us now look in detail the features of this Sirui T-025X to understand what makes it so special:
This Sirui T-025X is undoubtedly known as the most lightweight and compact tripod ever. With a folded size of 11.8 inches and weight of only 1.5 lb. it has made its ranks in the most useful tripods. These features along with a perfectly designed padded carrying bag with straps make it easy to carry anywhere thus making it an ideal travel tripod.
The size and weight haven’t comprised quality as the performance remains above par. The only thing that slacks is the maximum height of 54.5 inches which is behind rivals. However, the minimum operating height is 10.2 inches is indeed great and gives versatility in shooting especially for macro photography.
Then the compactness hasn’t reduced its load capacity as it can support a maximum of 13.2 lb. this means it is perfect for all sorts of cameras; be it camcorders, DSLRs, or mirrorless cameras. This Sirui T-025X ranks in the middle field as it can carry the majority of the lenses except for the real bulky ones.
Coming onto quality, this Sirui T-025X is made of one of the finest carbon fibers in the world. This is what makes this tripod stand out amongst others in the market as it makes it very strong and durable. This carbon fiber is also what allows it to weigh at less than two pounds and fold down to under a foot. Then this T-025X also has another quality feature in the form of a counterweight hook for placing extra weights to counter the instability that often accompanies lighter tripods.
This weighs the tripod down ensuring that it doesn’t trip or the equipment doesn’t fall off and giving it additional stability. Then the construction and design of this tripod also reflect quality as both the legs and ball head perform excellently.
The ball head is also extremely capable because it operates smoothly and accurately and it also has separate knobs for pan and tilt adjustments. Thus, they enable the user in performing tasks like panoramic photography while keeping the tilt locked. Then it sports an Arca-type compatible quick release plate which makes it even more user-friendly.
Coming on to legs, the legs are not only upward-folding to give it a compact size of 11.8 inches but they also feature twist locks for easy setup. Every leg has an automatic leg-angle lock mechanism for convenience and their three leg-angle positions give stability on uneven terrain.
While extremely lightweight and compact, this portability of the T-025X comes at a price. There are some compromises on stability. There are some issues that can arise in windy conditions. For compactness, the leg sections are made thin which sacrifices balance and can shake in rough conditions.
This is only an issue in extreme weather. Moreover, there are ways to combat these minor issues as Sirui has included counterweight hooks for additional balance. Another way to fix this problem is by keeping the center column low, but of course, this will lead to some reduction in height.
