GoPro Hero 7 Silver Review

GoPro Hero 7 Silver action camera

GoPro Hero 7 Silver is the 2nd model among the three-model range of Hero 7 from GoPro. Being the middle one, it has more to offer than the entry-level white version and little limited features than the signature model of black.

The Black version has few more qualities than this one, but it doesn’t mean that Hero 7 Silver is any less in its performance. Above all, it is not as costly as the flagship model black but with 4k resolution, durability, numerous video and images features/modes, and GoPro’s quality guarantee.

GoPro Hero 7 Silver key features:

There are multiple features worth talking about GoPro Hero 7 Silver. Here are the details about its salient features and performance.

Design and built

The design of the GoPro Hero 7 isn’t much different from hero 6 and hero 05. Same elegant and ergonomic but strong built. It is a great camera for outdoors with physical dimensions of only 1.75 x 2.44 x 1.1 inches (L x W x H) and a weight of 4.2 ounces.

The built is tough but waterproof. Underwater you don’t have to worry your camera at all up to 33 feet. Capture all of your underwater adventures and water sports without any fear of damage to your camera.

The most visible physical feature of GoPro Silver 7 is its touch screen. It is a two inches LCD. One of the reasons behind the simplicity of the designs of GoPro action cameras is their touch display.

The interactive display screen is easy to use and saves time and space on the camera. This touch LCD is pretty responsive, displays very vibrant results, and makes it easy to take great shots; everything just a swipe and taps away.

Occasionally, one can face LCD being unresponsive and not working until the option is pressed with force. It occurs especially when you use your Hero 7 Silver continuously for a while, using high-end video modes or under high temperatures.

4k video and video quality

4k video shooting is the headline of GoPro Hero Silver 7. It shoots smooth 4K videos at 30fps. It is the top video mode, but the resolutions below are also impressive.

4k is signature resolution, but another resolution offered by this camera with high-definition results is 1440p. It is less in width (1920×1440) than 4k (4k width is 3840×2160), but it does a dandy job.

There are multiple video modes offered in Silver 7, which gives it an edge over white 7. Videos can be turned into artistic work by shooting them in time-lapse, 15 seconds clip, burst mode, slow motion.

With Burst mode, you can get 15 photos in one second. There is also a new feature of touch-zoom, which lets zoom-in and zoom-out directly from the screen. This feature makes the camera easy to use, but in the Silver version, it cannot be used while doing 4k recording.

Another drawback of the 4k shooting is that the framerate cannot be changed. It is fixed at 30 frames per second. But generally, it doesn’t affect the results of the general footage.

Camera stabilization

Shaky and blur image result is eliminated by electronic Stabilization. The stabilization of GoPro Hero 7 Silver is closer to the white version than the high-end one Black with HyperSmooth Stabilization System.

The built-in stabilization system uses the software-based methods to reduce the blurs caused by shakes and bumps, making it a perfect candidate for shooting while hiking, cycling, running, and other action-filled adventures.

The stabilization is the default feature. It cannot be turned on and off, and it is always working no matter which photo/video mode the photographer is using.

Exposure control

Hero Silver 7 use an automatic exposure control. This feature lets the select an area that you want the camera to prioritize when determining exposure. It helps to eliminate the chances of over and underexposure. It is effortless to use. On LCD, touch the part of the frame where you want the exposure, and automatic exposure control will make it the image’s exposure basis.

Voice control

Hero 7 comes with around 16 voice commands, including the voice commands for a start/stop recording, start/stop time-lapse mode, take a photo, Shoot burst, capture/stop capture, and a few more. Forget about controlling the camera manually and stay in the moment.

Vertical shooting

A new feature of vertical shooting is added in GoPro Hero 7 cameras to make it portrait friendly. Capture the HDR videos and photos in a vertical orientation; perfect footages to post on your social media accounts.

Battery

In Hero7 Silver battery is the part of the design, and it cannot be removed. The battery type used is rechargeable LR44. On average, the battery can support around 2 hours of continuous shooting before it gets completely dead. It can be charged over the USB-C port. It is perfectly sealed inside the camera that even underwater use cannot harm it.

WDR and GPS

These two are the features in GoPro Hero 7 Silver, which are absent in the white version.

Using the GPS setting, you can track your speed, distance, and location. GPS tags can be added to videos to show how fast, far, and high you went. Stickers can be added through GoPro official app available for IOS and Android both.

The feature of WDR makes efforts directly with software and improves the exposure throughout the entire frame of the image. HERO7 Silver takes vibrant 10MP photos, even in difficult exposure situations.

Automatic transfer

Brand-new of QuikStories launched by GoPro footages can automatically transfer and edited in the background. Hero 7 Silver must be connected to the GoPro app for automatic transfer. Videos, time-lapse videos, and single photos transfer automatically, but burst photos can only be transferred manually.
