The Hasselblad L1D-20c camera that comes with the Mavic Pro 2 has a full-frame equivalent focal length of 28mm and ISO 100-12,800 for stills and ISO 100-6400 for video. Its camera sensor is still the largest compared to cameras in mainstream high-end consumer drones.
It’s been 4 to 5 years since its release, but most of the features still cannot be found in most drones. But isn’t it worth it when it comes to fulfilling the things you need from your next camera drone? Here are all the details, features, and performance of DJI Mavic 2 Pro to find the answers!
DJI Mavic 2 Pro Features Breakdown:
DJI Mavic 2 Pro is slightly larger than the original Mavic Pro. The drone measures 3.3×3.6×8.4 inches (HWD) when folded and 3.3×9.5×12.7 inches when its arms are extended.
The drone weighs 2 pounds (heavy enough to require FAA registration for recreational flying in the USA and several other countries). Without a battery, it is just 1.4 pounds. The newer Air 2S model weighs in at just 21oz, while the professional-tier Phantom 4 Pro V2 weighs 48.50oz. This model is somewhere in between. Nevertheless, it still has a superior flying performance.
This clever design allows it to be stored or flown in seconds. The Mavic 2 Pro is easily portable and convenient to carry around with its foldable design. The main body is rigid and has the battery attached at its rear/top. While the camera and gimbal are located at the front/bottom, the drone’s main body is flexible. You can rotate the front propeller arms and twist the rear arms to open the drone.
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro controller is also compact and foldable, in keeping with the remaining design of the drone. Two arms are located at the bottom of the controller, allowing smartphones of different sizes to be connected and provide a camera feed. A small LCD screen on the controller displays valuable information about the flight and can also access flight settings and camera settings.

It supports 4K 10-bit HDR and can be connected to a 4K TV equipped with HLG. It will instantly playback the footage in the correct color tones.
The overall image quality is excellent, with the sharpest images in the center and some fall-off towards edges. A small amount of lens distortion can be seen, but it is insignificant. Chromatic aberration may also be visible along the subject edges in high-contrast situations. This can easily be corrected with the most popular photo editing software and apps.
ISO noise is a noticeable problem in still images, especially in settings above ISO 100. But this can be easily reduced in post-production, provided you shoot in Raw DNG format. Video noise is less noticeable than stills when you use the same settings as stills. This is because the motion in the video can mask the noise.
The drone offers video options for professionals and beginners alike. It has standard video, the Blog M (10bit) Raw profile, and HDR video (HLG 10-bit). Video is available in 4K at 24/25/30p, 2.7K at 24/25/30/48/50/60p, and FHD at 24/25/30/48/50/60/120p lots of options, although frame rates are limited at the highest resolution.
The drone uses the Hyper lapse feature to take stable aerial photos and process them automatically. With just a click, you can create a professional-looking time-lapse that can be shared on social media.
The functionality of DJI Mavic 2 Pro
The flight functionality of the drone is:

This drone has a variety of automatic flight patterns that make it easy to capture high-quality video footage without doing complicated maneuvers. These have a pre-programmed look, so they are best for beginners. Once they master more complex tricks manually, they will be less valuable.
The Mavic Pro 2 can fly at speeds of up to 44.7mph/72kph when operating in Sport Mode (S). This mode is exceptionally responsive and uses GPS positioning, but forward and downward facing collision avoidance sensors are disabled by default in this Mode. Sport Mode allows for a longer flight time of 31 minutes and a speed of 72 km/h.
With all collision avoidance sensors activated, Positioning Mode (P) is slightly slower than S-mode. However, when pilots fly in Tripod Mode (T), speed is greatly restricted, and controls are less sensitive to allow more cinematic-looking footage.
The drone can follow the subject when the subject is selected in the app. This makes it ideal for tracking people, moving objects, i.e., wildlife photography and vehicles.
DJI Mavic Pro’s safety has GPS positioning, which always keeps track of it. It also has intelligent Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensors on every side of the drone body to help avoid collisions. They will cause the drone to fall if it senses an obstacle. It works well, but it didn’t turn out to be perfect in our hands-on experiment, especially in very windy conditions.
Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS technology) helps avoid obstacles in both front and back. At the bottom, it has an auxiliary lamp that allows the sensors to function even in low-light conditions.
ActiveTrack 2.0 gives Mavic 2 Pro precise recognition. It provides a 3-dimensional view through the primary camera and forwards a dual vision sensor for accuracy and recognition. It can also track fast-moving objects such as cars and boats up to 45 mph (72 km/h).
10-bit Dlog-M Color Profile
It supports 10-bit DlogM color profiles with greater flexibility and dynamic range in the grading area. The system can record more than 1,000,000 colors, compared to 16 million colors using traditional 8-bit color code technologies.
It also retains more detail in highlights and shadows. This allows you to capture subtle gradations of sunrise and sunset, thus leaving more space for post-production.

- The DJI Mavic 2 uses Hyperlapse technology to deliver steady aerial shots that it then automatically processes.
- You can save JPEG or RAW photos directly to a microSD card, which gives you flexibility for processing later.
