Benro Rhino FRHN05CVX20 performs exceptionally, despite being the smallest travel tripod in the new line from Benro. This tripod has the best strength-to-weight ratio without sacrificing stability; therefore, it’s our pick.

Because of its reverse-folding construction, it is incredibly portable and may be used indoors or out.

With the automated leg angle adjustment, you may press a button to modify your leg angle. When the Rhino tripod’s specified leg and center column are united, it becomes a full-size monopod.

Because of its carbon fiber legs, the Benro Rhino FRHN05CVX20 travel tripod is durable and lightweight. One of the legs of this premium-feel travel tripod can be removed to change it into a monopod, making it more portable.

In contrast to the more cost-effective aluminum, the carbon fiber structure of this tripod unavoidably implies that it also comes with a premium-ish price tag. Operating effectively requires a brief time to familiarize oneself with its many functions.

The Salient Features of Benro Rhino FRHN05CVX20

The Benro Rhino FRHN05CVX20 follows the now typical travel tripod design. Its legs fold up following the center column, which must be extended for packing, and enclose the tripod head to provide a considerably more significant, compact folded shape than a conventional tripod.

5-section legs allowed for a folded length of just 350mm. Even though the most excellent height without the center column extended is modest at a little over 1m, the maximum size with full extension may reach about 1.4m. The center column itself has two portions.

The VX ball head warrants a special note because it has two pan axes instead of one. As with most cameras, the first one may be found behind a mounting plate on top of the ball mechanism, but there is a second one right below it.

You can quickly level the ball head with the spirit level bubbles and use the secondary pan mechanism to move the camera for video.

Build and Handling:

Each of the five twist-lock sections of the Benro Rhino Travel Tripod’s legs may be unlocked and locked independently by turning the rubber section collar counterclockwise and clockwise.

Legs

Rather than purchasing the tripod legs on their own, we opted for a package that included a ball head for our camera, ensuring that we had a ready-to-use solution when it arrived.

A conventional fast-release plate on this ball head lets you connect and detach a camera for 360-degree panning.

Weight The Tripod can carry

On paper, the tripod weighs 1.24 kg, which may seem like a lot, but when you hold one in your hand, it’s sturdy but not too heavy. If we want to take a professional DSLR or medium format camera and a large telephoto lens with us on our trips, it can also hold up to 10 kg, which is a lot.

Most of us won’t, so it’s hard to see this device not meeting its needs. To move it, the legs can be folded back on themselves to wrap around the center column. This way, the whole thing takes up the smallest amount of space possible, given the design that went into it.

VX Ball

The VX ball head is excellent. First, its spring-loaded locking knob is a little awkward. You turn it, pull it against a spring, and move the camera plate until you can move it freely. Once you understand how it works, it is a great system.

Performance

For a small tripod, the Benro Rhino FRHN05CVX20 is very stable, even though it has five-section legs and a double-extension center column that doesn’t sound like the best way to make it strong.

The Benro Rhino Travel Tripod, in its FRHN05CVX20 version, is well-made, strong, and tactile. With the three legs folded around the central column when we take it out of the box, which makes the tripod the most portable and travel-friendly, we have to fold these down before we can twist off the various leg sections and set it up.

Unless, of course, we’re planning to use it right away at its lowest height setting.

If we want to get the most out of its features immediately, we’ll need to know it a little. Fortunately, there’s a short instruction manual. It’s important to note that the spirit level is hidden when we mount a camera on the ball head that comes with the kit; the spirit level is hidden.

This means we must ensure everything is stable, level, and locked into place before we slip our camera into position.

With any tripod, the trick is to use the entire length of the legs first. If you do that, the Benro will be very strong and stable. In this case, you can use the one-column extension, and it’s still pretty good. If you use both, it starts to get a little shaky.

Unlimited Options on Field

The Benro Rhino Tripod is made of carbon fiber, but it also has a secret weapon that makes it better than cheaper tripods. When the space for taking pictures is minimal, or we want to go light, we can remove one of the tripod’s legs and attach it to the tripod’s center column to make it into a single-tubed monopod.

As for the tripod itself, the maximum height is 139.5cm. The minimum height, which is what you need, is 35cm. It’s just a little taller than the typical ruler in the school library. That’s not all. A monopod can reach 141cm in height.

A carry bag with a shoulder strap is good to have right out of the box. A spring-loaded hook on the base of the center column can be extended, and a heavier object held on it for even more stability and stability if needed.

Verdict

Benro Rhino FRHN05CVX20 isn’t the cheapest option as a travel tripod, but we think it’s worth the extra money for people who travel a lot or like to take their cameras out into the great outdoors often. In return, we’re getting a great mix of strength, agility, and portability.

This option can hold anything from a small mirrorless camera to a DSLR-sized camera with many big lenses. It’s a versatile jack-of-all-trades that should help us take better pictures for years to come.

There are always compromises when you use a tripod on the go—the smaller the folded size, the more concessions you have to make. The Benro Rhino FRHN05CVX20, on the other hand, is very durable.

It takes a little longer to set up than a regular tripod, but as long as you’re willing to shoot at waist or chest height, this tripod will be a very stable base for a small camera, a mirrorless camera, and even a large DSLR with a large lens.
